This infographic system was created for Graphic Design IV, and features an infographic poster and an accompanying motion graphic. The task was simple: create an infographic that took a complex topic which the designer would research and covered that topic in a way that could be easily understood by an audience unfamiliar with the subject matter.
I chose deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest — a topic close to my heart for much of my youth. Because deforestation is most effectively depicted in a tree cover map, I chose a cartography theme, designing my poster to look like a workspace where maps are created. My poster primarily looked at tree cover loss over time, leading causes of deforestation, and some of the impacts of deforestation. I chose Ryman Eco as the font for my body copy, because it uses only 2/3 the ink of most other fonts, a sentiment consistent with my message.
To build upon the cartography theme, I designed the accompanying motion graphic to carry over the workspace aesthetic. The camera zooms and pans around the poster which is set in space.
